Shawn Mughal
Mr. Mughal takes on business, civil, and contract dispute cases in Virginia state courts and the Eastern District of Virginia Federal Court. He appears before both the Circuit and District courts for civil complaints on monetary and contract disputes, commercial and residential landlord/tenant disputes. As an attorney he believes it is his obligation to provide quality and timely service.
Mr. Mughal has taken cases and has successfully represented clients in business purchase and sale, shareholder disputes, partnership disputes, contractor and vendors disputes along with business customer disputes. He has also represented clients in civil lawsuits for monetary disputes and contract disputes along with eviction and correction of vital records.
Some of the most common cases that Mr. Mughal is routinely involved in deal with partnership disputes, wage disputes, construction disputes, landlord/tenant disputes, and matters dealing with correction and/or amendment of birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates, and the Virginia Vital Records Department.
Mr. Mughal’s civil litigation practice centers on representing individuals, local business owners, and property managers in Virginia state courts. His courtroom experience spans both Northern Virginia General District Courts and Circuit Courts across jurisdictions like Fairfax, Alexandria, Arlington, Loudoun, Prince William and Stafford counties. In these forums, he frequently handles matters such as monetary claims, breach of contract lawsuits, vendor and contractor disputes, and petitions for the correction or amendment of vital records with state administrative agencies. He also maintains a significant landlord-tenant practice, representing parties in unlawful detainer actions, eviction proceedings, and lease enforcement disputes.
On the corporate and business side, Mr. Mughal assists small- to mid-sized enterprises through various stages of the business lifecycle. His work includes drafting and reviewing foundational corporate documents, such as business incorporation filings, partnership agreements, operating agreements, commercial leases, and buy-sell arrangements. By helping clients structure clear terms for business management, ownership shares, and commercial transactions, his transactional practice aims to prevent operational friction and protect his clients’ legal interests before disputes arise.
When commercial conflicts do emerge, Mughal advises and represents business entities and shareholders in resolution negotiations or litigation. His practice routinely addresses internal business controversies, such as partner or shareholder ownership disagreements and governance disputes, as well as external conflicts involving breach of fiduciary duty, business torts, non-compete agreements, and payment or wage claims. Across these matters, he focuses on providing strategic, tailored counsel intended to reach practical resolutions for local businesses while safeguarding their financial and operational stability.

He received his Bachelor of Arts from James Madison University in 2007 where he also was a member of Alpha Phi Omega (APO) – Fraternity. He received Juris Doctor from Widener University School of Law – Harrisburg, PA in 2012. He was authorized to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia in 2012. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar and hold good standing in all jurisdictions.
